GAA Dance - September 29 at Mercy, 7:30 - 11:30 p.m.
Standards for the GAA Dance
Mercy sponsors dances so that you have an opportunity to have a good, safe and enjoyable evening with friends. These standards are designed to help us meet that goal. Let’s have a great time!
1.) Every Mercy student must have her own ticket, and tickets must be purchased in school by 4:00 on Friday, September 28. Absolutely no tickets will be sold at the door.
2.) The dance begins at 7:30 p.m. You must arrive by 8:30. If you have not arrived by 8:30, we will call your parents to let them know that you are not at the dance. You will enter by the Epworth door. You and your date will sign the ticket there, if you have not already done so, indicating that you both are willing to follow the rules of the dance. If you or your date must be late, then you should drop off a note from your parents to Mrs. Brodbeck before the end of homeroom on Friday.
3.) Dress, dancing, and behavior should be “Mercy Appropriate.” No dancing that is sexually explicit or that risks safety is allowed. We look forward to seeing you dressed according to your class theme.
4.) You must leave in the coat check room any bags you have brought along. No drinks may be brought into the dance. Refreshments will be available.
5.) Neither you nor your date may leave until 10:30 p.m. Once you leave, you must leave the parking lot as well. There will be Cincinnati police officers outside (and inside) to make sure that everything is safe. If you are being picked up, you should tell your parents to arrive by midnight.
6.) School rules regarding drugs, alcohol, and tobacco on pages 24-25 of the Handbook are in effect. Smoking is not permitted on campus. Students and their dates will be randomly chosen for breathalyzer tests. If alcohol is detected, parents, school administrators, and, if necessary, police will be notified. Use of drugs or alcohol will bring about severe consequences, including the possibility of suspension or expulsion.
