Life Club

Moderator:  Ms. DeJaco and Ms. Herrmann

Mission: Life Club members believe that all life is a precious gift from God. Because of this belief, the members will act with compassion and integrity concerning life issues, such as, abortion, euthanasia, genocide, and human rights within all cultures and economic circumstances in the Greater Cincinnati Area and around the world.

Activities: "40 Days for Life" prayer and walk, Respect Life Week, Right to Life March and speakers

Membership: Open to all students.

Scholarships Opportunities: Mercy's "Pro-Life" Scholarships
By the generosity of a Life Club supporter, Mother of Mercy is pleased to offer three new scholarships to current students. The scholarships will be awarded to the top three Life Club members exhibiting enthusiasm and active participation in organized Pro-Life activities in the effort to end abortion.

The scholarships are open to Life Club members in all grade levels. The awards will be announced in the spring of 2014 and applied to the following school year.  (If a senior student wins, her scholarship would be applied to the college of her choice; the awards for all other grade level winners would go directly to tuition at Mother of Mercy.)

1st Place - $3,000.00
2nd Place - $2,000.00
3rd Place - $1,000.00

 
The Life Club's mission and goal is to educate and prepare students to become active members of society in defending and creating a culture of life.

Eligible Activities for Pro-Life Scholarship Awards
  • Possible topic for future Life Club Meeting: Come and listen to sidewalk counselors talk about their experiences.  Speakers will give a short training session on how to speak with someone who is considering abortion and how to direct a person to alternative resources to help in this time of need.

  • "Prayer for Life" poster contest. Submissions due to Ms. DeJaco or Ms. Herrmann by December 9, 2013. Please click here for more details.

  • Future speakers: Attorney Michael Condit will be coming to speak with members about his current and past legal battles in defending First Amendment Rights of anti-abortion protesters.  Mr. Condit will be discussing citizens’ rights in the pro-life effort and what actions can be taken in defending the “voiceless” in their right to life

  • Join us for a pizza party and movie “October Baby”, an inspiring and romantic coming-of-age story that will show the power of true love and forgiveness. (Date to be announced)
